Finland manager Markku Kanerva will have to wait to name the final player in his 23-man squad after Dynamo Kiev midfielder Roman Eremenko decided not to join the squad for this summer’s competition.
“I have given it a lot of thought in the last few days and I do not feel I could give 100 per cent in the finals,” Eremenko said. “I have played nearly 40 games this season which has really been the first full season for me at senior level.”
Eremenko did not feature at all in Finland’s qualification for the competition and it is believed Kanerva will add either a defender or a midfielder to his squad.
